Initially bought from competitor who piped data via Hong Kong with mid triple digit latency and dialup speeds. Japan Wireless testing hit a Japanese provider as its closest, had good double digit latency, and megabit speeds. It always worked well - even in subways. They’ll be my go-to for future Japan trips.
Would definitely use this service again had no problems at all during my trip.
It was very easy to pick up, everything was packaged and waiting for us at the airport. Very fast Wi-Fi every where we went(Tokyo, Osaka). Even easier to drop off with the pre-paid envelope. Would recommend and use again!
It was easy to activate and good service
The WiFi unit was easy to pick up and easy to mail back. It worked flawlessly.
Reliable service and the WiFi lasted all day without charging. We were using 3 devices throughout the day. Would use again
Options for iPhone with eSim compatibility was good and reliable. 5g signal and data performance was amazing and rarely used Wifi services in locations. In terms of improvements I would suggest improving the chat not which was not working correctly. I would also allow customers to check the expiry date and time of the eSim(s) in the portal once logged in. I couldn’t find anything. And lastly I needed a 15 day esim so had to buy a separate 14 day and a 3 day as there was no option to extend a 14 day esim. These are all minor points as value for money was great with the 5g unlimited
Had a mobile hotspot for just over two weeks. The service was reliable the whole time. I was never concerned about having internet as long as I had the device charged so we were able to focus on our amazing trip and not the logistics.
Our first device stopped working about 12 days into our trip. It took a few days to coordinate a replacement as communication with Support was email based and we were only in a few locations for two days at the time. That being said, Support sent a replacement device to our hotel a a day or two ahead and we were back online and functioning fine for the rest of the trip. It wasn’t ideal but I honestly don’t know how it could have been a better experience given our logistics and the fact that I was in a country that I don’t speak the language. I was able to communicate with support via email in English (of course it was sporadic since I had to be at a free WiFi location and was constantly on the move).
All in all it worked out well and I would use again on our next trip to Japan.
Pro trip: download your maps prior to your trip so they are stored locally on your phone. We functioned quite successfully using offline Apple Maps and easily navigated public transportation and found food without our internet. Wasn’t ideal but we didn’t feel blind or detrimentally impacted while our hotspot was out of commission.
Service was excellent and reliable while in country. Setup with the QR code was easy. Recommend printing the QR code at home and bringing on your trip for easy setup when you arrive in Japan.
Used Japan Wireless for the second time this year on my trip holiday to Japan and it is outstanding and very simple, the device was awaiting my arrival at the first hotel. Go to phone / I Pad WiFi select the device and enter password and that’s it as much WiFi as you need for your trip. I used it the majority of the time for directions, google maps,
