Which phones are compatible with Japan Wireless eSIMs?

The eSIM technology is relatively new. Please check with your operator if there are any restrictions with your phone. If you have a carrier locked phone, you won't be able to use our eSIMs. Check our compatibility page for a full comprehensive list of all compatible phones & devices. Can I use Japan Wireless 5G eSIM on a 4G-only device?

If your device supports the 4G LTE network (specifically LTE Bands B1, B18, and B26), you can certainly use our 5G eSIM even if your device is 4G-only. If you install our 5G eSIM on a 4G-only device (such as an iPhone 11 or Samsung Galaxy A14 4G), it will seamlessly connect to the 4G network without any issues! If you experience any connection issues after successful activation, please set up your device's APN with the 4G LTE-specific APN settings provided in the email we sent you.

Can I use hotspot to share data with other devices?

If your device is equipped with this functionality, you can certainly share your data with other devices. E.G. If you activate your eSIM on your Iphone 14 pro max, you can utilize your hotspot to share data to your Samsung Galaxy A14. For IOS devices: Go to [Settings] > [Cellular] > [Personal Hotspot or Settings] > [Personal Hotspot] and make sure it’s turned on. Then verify the WiFi name & password. Make sure to stay on this screen so that you can share your eSIM data WiFi to other devices. For Android Devices: Go to [Settings] > [Network & Internet] > [Hotspot & Tethering] > Toggle on [WiFi Hotspot]. Once turned on you should be able to share your Japan Wireless eSIM data with other devices!
