How does an eSIM work?

There are 2 methods to installing and activating your eSIM. The first method is to scan our QR code which will be given to you right after purchase. The QR code will show up on our website and we will also send it over to you through email. The second method is to manually activate your eSIM. Is eSIM better than sim card?

eSIMs can be remotely activated or deactivated, while also simplifying the activation process as well as the purchase process. eSIMs are also digital, meaning less plastic waste compared to SIM cards.

Is it better to use pocket wifi or eSIM in Japan?

If you are planning to stay in Japan for more than 30 days, our Japan Wireless Pocket WiFi might be a better option due to longer term plans. For stays under 30 days, eSIM is a simple and easy way to purchase and start surfing the web in Japan!

What are the disadvantages of eSIM?

eSIMs require your to have a charged phone. You may also need newer models of certain phones to be able to use an eSIM. While you may have a newer phone model, it is important to check whether you have a 'locked' or 'un-locked' phone. If you buy your phone from a carrier, there is a chance that your carrier have locked your phone. Make sure to double check with them to see whether or not you can use our eSIM for Japan.
