My family of 4 traveled to Japan and I decided to rent Wifi product from Japan Wireless on their website. I picked it up at the airport upon arrival, which was a breeze. It was great alternative to eSim card. We all enjoyed the online experience at low cost. It also comes with extra battery if charge is low, which I used once. I just recharged a battery over night at the hotel. We would definitely do it again if we go to Japan.
