Japan Wireless' Unlimited Premium Wi-Fi is simple to arrange, set up, and use. The coverage was amazing during our travels throughout Japan and service provided connection for all our devices with little issue; 4 smartphones, 2 laptops, and 3 Wi-Fi translators.
Well worth the cost, ultimately a savings over individual international plans, and convenient when your smartphones aren't compatible with an eSim. Though it will not provide you with a "local" phone number.
Plus, it's simple to extend the service if or when you decide to extend your stay. They email follow ups when approaching the termination period that includes a link to extend, if needed.
Second time using their services and will continue to do so in the future.

Delivered to our hotel, worked perfectly all holiday and returned in their prepaid envelope via post box. Excellent.

The pocket WiFi worked beautifully for my trip and is well worth the money. Super easy to pick up at the airport, and just as easy to return. The battery lasted an entire day so I only had to charge it overnight so I never used the battery pack that was supplied with it, and it reached 100% charge very quickly. I cannot recommend it enough- I had zero problems during my three week stay. I will be using it on every trip to Japan!
