My phone is not esim compatible so I ordered the pocket wifi from Japan Wireless.
It was delivered to our hotel as requested and worked well throughout our trip.
Set up took about a minute.
Both the wifi and the backup battery were small and light enough to carry around.
Even with a full day's use each day, I only had to use the backup battery a couple of times.
The couple we were with used esims' one of which would not work so I was happy to have chosen the wifi.

No problem with wifi. Will rent again.

The signel is the best. Works everywhere and easy to set up!

Second time using. Very convenient in terms of collect/delivery and return of the portable wi-fi device. This time one issue is the connection not too stable, with 3 hours plus of no connection after collection.

Hope next experience will be better and more offers for discounts too.
Would still recommend for fuss free portable wi-fi after arriving in Japan. :)

We purchased pocket wifi in three countries on our recent trip. Japan wireless was by far the best.

Excellent coverage. Main battery lasted 9hrs. Backup battery used twice in 8 days.

The battery lasts pretty long, the internet is good but it does sometimes fail, specially at night. Still would completely recommend if you're only using it for a short period of time

As high data users, my wife and I were so happy sharing our Japan Wireless Pocket Wifi! We did extensive research and found it to be the fastest data speeds with no threat of throttling as others do, and the best price! Additionally, customer service was so helpful when our flight was delayed and we had to change pickup locations last minute!

very handy and useful, it worked pretty much everywhere and battery life was great too, lasting almost a full day after intense use.
Definitely recommend it.

This pocket WiFi worked great for our two week trip in Japan. We used it between three people in our group and had great 4G speed throughout the different cities that we visited in the country. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan.
