One of the best decisions we made renting WiFi for our holiday. Used it far more than we thought we would. Great signal coverage were ever we went in both Tokyo and Kyoto plus trips in and around these cities.

When you are planning your trip to Japan, a key decision to be made is whether you opt for a sim/ eSIM or a pocket Wi-Fi. We travelled extensively in Japan including the relatively remote Alps area ( Takyama) and always had great Wi-Fi connectivity. Connected 4 devices ( 2 x phones, 2 IPads) between two people and a real positive that the two of us always had internet connectivity. Especially important for accessing google maps which is your ultimate friend when travelling in Japan. Arranged for the device to be delivered to our first hotel and it was handed to us when we checked in and the return was easy, posting back to Japan Wireless - our last hotel did this for us. Only thing you need to keep on top of is ensuring that the device is always charged. A battery black is provided and needed - just ensure that each evening you fully charge the device and the battery pack.

A solid internet connection across Japan, easy to set up, much cheaper than survives, and available to pick up at the airport. Highly recommended.
