We ordered pocket wi-fi from Japan Wireless, which we used for two weeks. It worked great!
It was especially important for us because both my wife and I needed to use our laptops for work activities, so for us, it was much better than using a temporary SIM card for our phones. (We were staying, part of the time, at a place without wi-fi, and it was critical for both of us to have access to the internet at all times.)
The pouch we received from Japan Wireless also had a battery and a charger, so we could keep the pocket wi-fi charged when we were on the go. HOWEVER, please note that one battery is not enough if you will be on the go all day! Luckily, both my wife and I brought our own.
Charged pocket wi-fi: 4-5 hours
Battery provided by JW: 4-5 hours
Our own battery: 4-5 hours
One of the best things about Japan Wireless is their service. Because we arrived at Haneda rather late, I requested that they send the pocket wi-fi to our hotel on the following morning. That was fantastic. It was already waiting for us at the hotel front desk when we arrived. Drop-off was just as easy as they provided a pre-paid letter pack; we put everything back in the pouch; we put it in the letter pack and dropped it off in the postal box at Haneda Airport.
Pocket wi-fi: Great
Service from Japan Wireless: Great
Battery: Good
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed, practical, and helpful review! We are delighted to hear that our pocket Wi-Fi served as the perfect connectivity solution for you and your wife, especially for your work needs on laptops in areas without built-in Wi-Fi.
We also truly appreciate your thorough breakdown regarding battery usage and lifetime—your tips will be incredibly valuable for future travelers planning long days out on the go! It is wonderful to know that our hotel delivery option gave you flexibility with your late flight at Haneda Airport, and that returning the unit via the prepaid envelope was effortless. Delivering seamless, multi-device connectivity alongside flexible and accommodating customer support is always our highest priority.
Thank you once again for your support and helpful feedback. We look forward to keeping you connected on your next trip to Japan!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review! We completely understand how frustrating it is to deal with an unreliable connection when traveling, so we are thrilled to hear that our service provided you with the smooth, hassle-free experience you deserve.
Your genuine recommendation and trust mean the absolute world to our team. Delivering fast, rock-solid connectivity with zero stress is always our highest priority. We truly appreciate your support and cannot wait to welcome you back on your next trip to Japan!
Worked fine during our trip through out Japan. My only complaint is the battery life in the wifi devices. Goes very quickly!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review! We are glad to hear that our mobile Wi-Fi worked well and kept you connected throughout your trip across Japan.
We also sincerely appreciate your honest feedback regarding the battery life. Pocket Wi-Fi routers can drain battery faster when connecting multiple devices simultaneously or navigating areas with fluctuating signal strength. To help with this, we always include a complementary portable power bank in our rental kit to ensure you stay powered up on full-day outings. Providing clear guidance, long-lasting power solutions, and reliable connectivity is always our top priority.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to serve you again on your next visit to Japan!
My husband and I just went to Japan for our honeymoon. We knew I couldn’t purchase an e-Sim, so we planned on connecting my phone to his as a hot spot. After we landed, we quickly realized that that option would not work. Once we got to our hotel and I had WiFi, I quickly went onto the Japan wireless website and ordered a pocket WiFi to be delivered to our hotel the very next day. The process was so easy and seamless and was great to use for our entire two and a half week stay. I used it all the way until we got to the airport and dropped it off in the mailbox right outside of the airport. I could not recommend this enough!
Congratulations on your marriage, and thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful honeymoon story with us!
We know how stressful it can be when travel plans hit a sudden bump right after landing, so we are absolutely thrilled that Japan Wireless could step in and save the day with next-day hotel delivery! Knowing that our pocket Wi-Fi gave you seamless, stress-free connectivity for your entire two-and-a-half-week honeymoon—right up until dropping it in the airport mailbox—means the world to our team.
Delivering quick, flexible, and reliable solutions for travelers is always our top priority. Thank you once again for your enthusiastic recommendation, and we wish you and your husband a lifetime of happiness! We hope to welcome you both back for future anniversaries!
