I’ve used Japan Wireless three times now for portable Wi-Fi rentals, and they are consistently excellent. The device is always waiting at my hotel when I check in, the coverage works flawlessly nationwide, and the battery lasts all day. I love that it includes a charger and an extra battery pack. Returning it is effortless since the package includes a return envelope that can be dropped into the Japan Post box at the airport's international departures desk before the security checkpoint. 2nd time using their service and will definitely use agan. I liked the esim much better than carrying a separate device and service was very good from Huis Ten Bosch to Shibuya. Simply choose which esim you use for each service & you're all set. I left calls on my cellular in case the hotel needed to reach me (which they do call to verify luggage transfer). Airports & hotels have wifi so no issue setting up when you land. Make sure you have a way to scan the QR code.

In my situation I rented the potable wi-fi hub because my cell was not compatible with any of the e-sim available. I wasn't sure from which wi-fi service I should rent. But other reviews stated that their experience with Japan wireless was the best. What convinced me to go with Japan wireless, was that they deliver the device to your hotel and at the end of your trip all you had to do to return the device, was drop it in a Postal Mail Box with the provided stamped envelope. Before we flew back to the states. It was hassel free and there device worked everywhere we went on our tour for 7 days. Only had to reboot the device once through the week long vacation, and make sure it was always charged usb cable and carry pouch provided. I highly recommend this company for all your wi-fi needs while traveling in and around Japan and mainly the beautiful city of Tokyo. If i return to Japan I will definitely be using "Japan Wireless"
