I bought a pre-paid sim card online. It was delivered directly to the airport, on time and with good tracking information along the journey. I was very satisfied with this service.
The sim card worked as expected. The only downside is that the network settings are automatically set to prevent from sharing the connection to another device.

I had booked a pocket wifi through Japan Wireless, to be picked up from the desk at Kansai airport. Unfortunately our flight was delayed and we arrived much too late for the desk to be open. I called Japan Wireless from Australia before boarding, explained the situation, and they kindly and efficiently sent the unit to my accommodation in Hakuba. It was there waiting for me when I arrived.
I received emails to check that all was well and I found the communication helpful and friendly.
The pocket wifi was brilliant to stay connected anywhere, so that we could always access Google Maps, do some work or look things up, no matter where we were. As my partner and friends could connect too, it made it useful for all of us planning and booking ahead, not having to rely on wifi on trains or buses etc.
The additional USB power bank and charging port and cable were really helpful for charging all of our devices.
Next time we come to Japan we will definitely book another pocket wifi through Japan Wireless.

Definitely the best way to get Wi-Fi while in Japan. Super easy to pick up, use and return. Highly recommend this device!
