The pocket wifi was fantastic! We were everywhere - Tokyo, Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto. It never failed. Battery charge lasted a really long time too. Great product. Will definitely use again.

Rented this hotspot so we could access directions via map apps and live stream. Worked perfectly for this. We took this to many places around Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, himeji, Nara, Osaka, Fuji (city and mountain). Worked very well. We used a TON of data. I believe we had our pics/videos uploading to the cloud while connected to the hotspot. We reached data caps and it slowed at some times due to reaching the cap. Unlimited data may be something you want to look into if you have this turned on for your devices.
I was most impressed how it worked up Fuji. My wife live streamed without problems up there. I only think we had an issue up at the top but we had 0 signal with phones or the hotspot up there.
I would certainly rent this again for travels.

I traveled for about a month around Japan and this was by far the best choice I made. The internet connection was fast and reliable everywhere I went to (including more rural mountain areas). I didn’t have to use the battery pack included throughout my entire trip and the battery lasted through the entirety of my typical 17 hour days out.

Communication was clear. Easy pick up. Pocket wi-fi had clear, easy to follow instructions. Worked well at all times. Drop off was easy.

The service is great. You get off the airplane and go to the shop where they have the wifi unit ready for you. Comes fully charged and the surprising part is that it will almost last a day with a single connection. Not too sure if you have more than 1 connections. Comes with an external battery which can juice up the unit if it looks like it's running low. Return was super easy. Just drop it off at the post box at the airport. This was my second time using them and did not disappoint.

Great to be able to pick up at airport on arrival and be connected in minutes.

I already had unlimited service through KDDI with Verizon but Japan Wireless was good at supplementing my network as well as my friends.
