You get a wifi hotspot unit and a powerback. You can easily monitor how many devices (and their ID's) are using the wifi, so there's no need for an extra VPN on top of that (as long as you're doing anything unsafe on the internet). I was clumsy enough to lose my hotspot my second day in Tokyo, so I recommend getting the insurance as well. But I had a replacement unit by the end of that day sent to my hotel. They give you the postal envelope to send the unit back to them, which can be dropped off at any red post office box at Haneda or Narita airport.

Thank you for offering this service! While the wifi box did have some times where it lost connection (likely due to overheating in a pocket), otherwise this made for a very convenient thing to have on a trip.

Service unit was good - extra battery was not used bec the battery of the unit is long lasting. Thanks for the good unit and service.

I ordered a wifi unit online from Australia prior to my trip. Due to arrival time had it shipped to my accommodation. Unit was waiting for me when I arrived. Worked seamlessly. Drop off at airport in post box using enclosed pre-addressed envelope was easy.
