I was on a 10-day vacation in Japan, and I traveled throughout Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Ise, and Hakone. Even in more remote Hakone, I never had any connectivity issues. Consistent Internet and a pretty simple pick-up and return process — just make sure you carefully follow their clear instructions.

We spent a couple of weeks in Japan, arriving in Tokyo first. Picking up the wifi router was quick and easy. We had wifi in a matter of minutes. Travelled to Toyama, Kanazawa, Kyoto including up into the mountains around Kyoto, Nara and then back to Tokyo. Coverage was great including the Shinkansen. Battery life was good and only needed the power pack a couple of times during the whole trip.
