The entire service was pretty easy. There was a kiosk to pick up the wifi with directions in English on how to use the device and connect to your cell phone. The kit comes with everything you need, including a portable charger, and easy directions about returning the kit (just put it in a mailbox). The internet strength varied as I traveled throughout Japan (ex. weaker in more remote areas) but it felt like I had regular use of my phone as I would in the U.S.. Overall this was an incredibly good deal and I'd definitely use this service again the next time I visit Japan.
Easy pick up and drop off
We traveled from Shibuyu to Takayama to Kanazawa to Kyoto to Osaka to Shikoku and then Shinjinku. Great service, no issues.
Communication and price was the best. Picked up at Narita and dropped off in Kansai. Hassle free and the device worked perfectly.

The pick up at the Narita airport post office went smoothly. The directions to initiate the machine are clear and accurate. The charge on the unit typically lasted most of the day. We did have two incidents where the battery died nd we had the charge the unit. The share battery pack worked well. Dropped the provided envelope with the unit in the hotel mailbox at the airport, no worries.
This wifi approach is much, much better than using a SIM card in my opinion. Being able to contact multiple phones and iPads was great.
We ordered 2 pocket wifi's (came with extra battery). 1 worked really well, the other had a weaker battery so we had to keep the extra battery with it more often. The weaker one also had a harder time grabbing the signal. It was fine overall but we happened to notice since we had 2 to compare. Overall, excellent service to arrive at hotel and have it all ready for us. Easy return at the airport as well. Would highly recommend!
