The wifi hotspot never failed me, as far north as Sapporo all the way down to Kyoto. It would occasionally need to reset network connection, but this was quick and easy, and the battery life lasted much longer than expected.
On top of that, I got a free battery pack to recharge my hotspot on the long days when I did managed to run it's battery dry.

Easy pickup in NRT airport after landing (coming from the US), kept us connected throughout central and southern Japan, good battery life on the devices, all necessary charging included in a slim, easy traveling case. Dropped off in a postal box in Tokyo to return!

The Japan wireless gave me good WiFi coverage anywhere I went in Tokyo. It also held a charge for most of the day.

Using a pocket wifi was very easy. Some will say it's a hassle since it is another item to carry or keep charged however my family found no issue. The pocket wifi was easy to bring around because it's so small and really does not take up much space in a backpack. It comes with an extra battery so when we were out all day long, we still had Internet access. I highly recommend using a wifi device for reliable Internet throughout Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka (where we visited).

This was invaluable for our time in Japan. The whole process was superb from start to finish and we could not have managed to get around as well as we did without it. I highly recommend it!
