My wife and I used a WiFi hotspot that I carried in my bag all week in Tokyo. We always had service and you can’t beat the cost. I would highly recommend!

Family of 4 traveled to Japan from US. Preordered wireless hotspot. Picked up at airport right after we landed. All of our phones connected seamlessly. Just carried it around in our bag for the week. Speeds were good. Return envelope was easy. Just handed to hotel front desk upon checkout and asked them to drop in the mail for me.

I picked the package up at the airport and it had everything I needed to use and return the equipment.

I had some connection issues about a week in, but turning it off and on again resolved the issue.

If you do not have an iphone or a japanese android device, I feel that this is a must.

For the two weeks we were in Japan,
we were able to keep in touch with family and friends by using call and text over wifi the whole time.

4.5/5 I used this device with only 1 iPhone and it gave me the signal I needed. I will say I travel from Tokyo to Osaka on the Shinkansen and I did lose signal during the rural portions. Within and urban city it worked fine. The battery lasted during all our adventures and it charged fast enough for a full charge in an hour or so. The setup was easy since the screen display the network name and password. Returning was just as easy. It has to be returned in an envelop and put in the mail box. The envelope is provided when you receive the device and there’s a mailbox at Haneda Airport. Would definitely rent it again.
