Even in the Japanese alps this wifi router worked. The battery in it is decent, but it doesn't last a full day if you're out from 8am-midnight. I didn't try the rechargable battery that came with it. I was connected and felt safe the whole time I was there. There was also easy dropoff at the airport.

I found the router very useful. Better signal than already between several other connections.
Friends that will go to Japan will always be indicating.

My experience with Japan Wireless was very easy. I had the Wi-Fi hot spot sent directly to the hotel in Japan. When I arrived, I was able to pick up the wireless hot spot at the hotel front desk. The hot spot gave me the internet connection so I could find restaurants, historical sites, and transportation. The extra battery pack included in the kit was very convenient as I could recharge the hot spot wherever I was traveling in Japan. Sending the hot spot back to the source was equally easy. I just handed the kit with package envelope to the hotel clerk and asked him to please mail for me. I would definitely use Japan wireless again next time I am in the country.

It’s great and fast. The slight downside though is that the battery doesn’t last too long and we had to reset it a few times because it stopped working.

Great range and speed. Worked without any issues on Shinkansen. Battery life was considerably better than described. Although it was only connected to one device, the battery life of this wifi was much better than others I have rented and used under similar conditions.
