A group of 4 of us used the router over 3 weeks travelling Japan. It had internet connection wherever we went, main cities, rural areas, even on the top of mount Fuji. I definitely recommend using Japan wireless, the investment is worth it. There were a couple of situations where we caught the wrong train or had to message someone and there was no free wi-fi but we sorted it out because of the router. I had to go to the doctor because I got sick to get antibiotics, if I didn't have the wireless router to translate my symptoms I may not have gotten better on the trip. Pick up and drop off was so simple. When I come back to Japan I will definitely use it again. It makes travelling so much easier when you never have to worry about finding wi-fi to connect to, trying to figure out where you are, where your hotel is, where the nearest restaurant is and using google translate. With 4 people it made it a lot cheaper also. If you are going to Japan by yourself or in a group I would 100% recommend getting the wireless router.
I have been using Japan Wireless at least twice a year for several years. I find them to be well priced and they provide great customer service. Although the idea of receiving a hot spot at my hotel and returning it by mail was a little bit odd (it involves a fair bit of trust), I have never had a problem with their system. And, once when I had a problem with a charger they provided, they replaced it very swiftly. I recommend using them.
Great service. I wish I had known about this company for my previous trip to Japan. The pocket wifi was waiting for us at the hotel as planned.We are in Hokkaido and we only lost the connection once for about 5 minutes. The extra battery is also very convenient. I absolutely recommend this service.

Even with three people using it, the WiFi lasted all day without troubles, we rarely got below 30% with moderate usage.
