I've rent the Japan Wireless Premium device for my 14 days trip in Japan.
The connections has been perfect wherever I've been : from Tokyo to Kyoto to Hiroshima.

I was going to rely on Hotel WIFI whilst travelling in Japan. I am so glad I didn't. The wifi Dongle was so practical. I was able to use Google maps to navigate my way around with ease. It comes with a power bank also so the only time I had to charge it was in the evening back at hotel.
It was a little bit heavy to be carrying around my handbag/backpack. However I would highly recommend this service. The price was very reasonable also.

The pocket or portable wifi works great. It can get very warm during use through out the day. The wifi battery last around 7-8 hours but a spare external battery is provided with the unit. I am very happy with it and the rental process is very easy.

My wife and I took our four kids ages 11-21 to Japan 25 years after meeting there in our early 20’s. The premium WiFi was awesome and totally indispensable. All six of us has seamless, totally reliable connectivity everywhere with the sole exception of parts of Koyasan which we expected. We went to Magome and Tsumago in Kiso valley and hiked the Nakasendo with full connection the whole time. We did use the spare battery every day with six of us connecting but with that we never ran out of juice. We did lots of public transport everywhere and with the WiFi I could figure out our on-the-fly travel no problem. I can’t imagine doing what we did without the premuim WiFi service and it was awesome - totally up to the task.
