The premium Wi-Fi worked perfectly while visiting the cities in Japan. Also, worked in the mountains while skiing and also while visiting Lake Kawaguchi.

I picked up the mobile hotspot from Narita airport. It was quick and easy! I used the hotspot all over Japan, including some more rural and remote areas. It worked the whole time. I used it all day for GPS and maps especially. The battery life was impressive. I’d still recommend carrying a small backup battery just in case, but I’ve rented wifi hotspots before and this one lasted pretty much all day before needing to be charged again. Returning it was easy. Everything was in the envelope given and I just had to drop it off at the mailbox at the airport. In Haneda, it was really close to security clearance so I didn’t have to go out of my way to return the hotspot. The five stars are for the wifi hotspot. I did also rent the translator. I ended up not using it as it was not very user friendly. I did very well with Google translate on my phone, and with the wifi hotspot it was always online.

Wifi was reliable and fast for the duration of the rental. Prepare some extra cables in case the one provided gets damaged.

My partner and I used this pocket wifi for two weeks in Japan. We experienced no real issues. The battery life usually lasted all day, sometimes we also used the included external battery. It is easy to carry around, about the size of a phone. There were brief outages of service in rural areas, but these were areas where cell service was also not available. Still would recommend it, and would use again if we return.

Great product. We used it for 3 months in Japan. Much cheaper than boost international roaming. Unlimited data. Didn't ever go slow. Pretty good battery life, about 7 to 8 hours. Would use again.
