I did a lot of research before settling on this device since I didn't want a big extra electronic to drag around with me. This was the perfect size, about the size of a deck of cards. We sometimes had to turn it off and on again when going from hotel wifi to using this outside. But in Osaka and Kyoto it worked fine for running basic things like messaging apps and Google maps. We had the most issues with it in Tokyo of all places, but the abundant public wifi there meant it wasn't too much of an issue. Turning the device off and on again did the trick every time, so we were never completely without wifi. The return process was also super simple. We just dropped it off at the airport post office. I did wish they'd send an email confirming they've received every thing for peace of mind, but otherwise is was an easy, simple way to have wifi for multiple phones on our trip. Of the companies I researched, Japan Wireless was also the most affordable for sure.

It was crucial for me to have connection during my stay in Japan since I decided I wouldn't be getting a mobile phone. I contracted with Japan Wireless and found smooth sailing in staying connected to wi-fi on my mobile phone. It really comes in handy when you are constantly needing to do a Google Map directions search whilst traveling.

The wifi is a perfect companion in touring Japan. It helped us a lot during our 8-day stay. There was no problem in searching for our rides, where to eat and the needed directions to go around Tokyo and Osaka. 6 gadgets were able to access the wifi with no difficulties. Though there might be a need to upgrade the powerbanks provided.
