Function perfectly, where at the hotel, when we arrived and put it in the mailbox at the airport. Smooth.

This device was a godsend. We didn’t need to worry about roaming and paid a flat fee for its use while in Japan. I would charge it overnight and use it all day the next day. By the time we went back to our hotel room at night, there would be about 10% battery left. The connection was a bit spotty in the more remote mountain areas that we went to, but we were never without connection for too long. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling in Japan.

If you travel from the US to NRT Terminal 1, make sure you choose to pick up your package at the JTB Counter (next to Tourist Information Center). It's right outside of the customs exit. We made the mistake choosing the other counter and it was a bit of walking.
We choose the Premium Wifi package and it worked great throughout Japan from North to South for 2 weeks. The unit's battery would last about 10 hrs so remember to charge it every night. We'll definitely choose Japan Wireless again when we'll be coming back to the beautiful Japan next year. Very reliable service.

IF you are looking for something reliable and wil work out of the box, definitely reccomend the wifi box. I would suggest bring your own power Bank the one included died with in minutes so we never really used it. The pocket wifi lasted us about 5-8 hours so had to charge it during our outings but that was no issue.
I used this on top of my esim for emergencies and I'm glad I did!
