It's the best idea ever for travelling along the country as the need for directions and addresses meets with a total lack of indications and signage. The only downaide may be the battery life which is a bit short but it comes with an additional external one that you end up using every time.

Although there are a number of places you can access wifi in Japan having this was great. Turned it on in the morning, placed it in my backpack and throughout the day both of us could access the internet on our smartphones wherever we were. No worry about massive mobile data costs. Better than separate Japanese sims in our phones, that would have altered access to the apps on our phones. Brilliant solution. In the hotel when we arrived, The hotel concierge recognised the mailing pack when I checked out before our return to the UK, he took it off me and it was mailed back, perfect.

Hot spots were at the hotel when we arrived. Easy to use, everything worked perfectly. Super easy to return in mailbox with prelabeled envelope. Highly recommended.
