Amazing signal no matter where we went in Japan. However, given we did need to use wifi a lot for directions, the wifi box would get hot and drain. Considering this it did last longer than you would think. We did not have to plug it into the power bank until the late afternoon. The only real issue was sometimes the charging cord was not working unless we held it at a certain angle which was very frustrating… Overall, great experience and will use again when I return to Japan!

Japan Wireless's customer service is outstanding. I had an urgent issue where I needed to communicate with them right away. I didn't contact them through phone but I emailed them instead. I wasn't sure how long it would take them to reply to my email but in less than 24 hours they provided me with detailed directions including pictures on how to resolve my problem. They are courteous and effective communicators. I would definitely use Japan Wireless again the next time I visit Japan!

I used this device on a two week trip to Japan. Pickup was easy. Firing it up and getting it fully awake to full promised transmission speeds did take about 10 minutes for us, so don’t worry if that happens. Give it a few minutes and you’ll be happy you did. My son had only one complaint and that was when we were deep in a concrete building (on a tour). It worked everywhere. Subway station platforms, many different areas of Tokyo, Mt Fuji “area”, Osaka, and Kyoto. I am very happy we did this rental and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. When we were together it was great. We shared it among 5 iPhones and a laptop at one time. That was fine, but not an everyday need for what we were doing. Next time I would get two devices because we did separate for part of the trip and the people without the hotspot were not able to use their devices on their own 3G data plan…. My son was able to stream YouTube, Instagram stories, snapchats, with no issues… when I connected to it, I was able to do similar tasks simultaneously.
