Pocket wifi was waiting at the hotel, as requested. Return was easy.
Coverage was very good. We traveled from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko and Gotenba, then to Kyoto, Himeji, and Hiroshima. We lost coverage at Kinkakuji in Kyoto, but otherwise had good coverage everywhere. It seemed odd that we lost our signal in the middle of Kyoto, and I was a little disappointed.
Battery was good, so, though we carried the back-up battery, we didn't need it.

We ordered the wifi in advance, it was at our hotel when we arrived, worked perfectly for two weeks and we posted it back at the Airport, would recommend this to anyone visiting Japan.

All aspects of the rental worked perfectly: the pick-up was easy and took just a minute, the drop-off was equally simple and a confirmation was sent very quickly as well, and the Wifi performance was excellent in all the parts of Japan we visited (Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, Himeji, Hiroshima). I was also impressed by the battery capacity; only once did we actually need the power bank that came with the Wifi. I have used Japan Wireless three times now and it always worked flawlessly.
